In this post, I will be discussing the process involved in parboiling or pre-cooking rice. The parboiling process is done by precooking rice (without the husk) in order to reduce its starch content. It also allows the rice to absorb ingredients and spices easily.

Parboiling or pre-cooking rice helps to reduce starch, which result in transparent grains that are less sticky and more separate when cooked. Parboiling rice helps to reduce the arsenic content in the rice by 25% and increases calcium by 213%. Parboiled rice can be used to prepare jollof rice, fried rice e.t.c It can also be stored in a Ziploc for later use.
