Nigerian catfish pepper soup has always been my best remedy for cold especially during the rainy season. I love it when it is spicy and hot. Catfish offer varieties of benefits. It is low in fat, calories and also contains healthy fatty acids. They provide complete protein and it is a great source of vitamin B-12.
Nigerian Catfish Pepper soup can be accompanied with white rice, Eko, bread, fufu e.t.c.

Ingredients
- 2 Fresh Catfish (medium size)
- Scent Leaves
- 1-2 Teaspoon Ground or chopped fresh pepper
- 1/2 Teaspoon Ginger
- 1/4 Teaspoon Garlic (optional)
- 2-3 Seasoning Cubes
- Onions (2)
- Salt to taste
- Ground pepper soup spice
Procedure
- Cut and wash the fish thoroughly with either salt, lime, lemon, or hot water until the slime is gone. If you are using hot water in washing the fish, I advise you to submerge the fish in hot water for 5 minutes, then pour out the water and wash thoroughly with cold water.
- Once the fish is thoroughly washed, transfer to a pot, add the ground pepper soup spice, ginger, garlic (if using), chopped onions, seasoning cubes, salt and allow to boil for 15 minutes.
- Add ground or chopped pepper, chopped scent leaves and cook on medium heat for 15 minutes.
- The pepper soup should be ready. serve hot with cold juice.
