How to Make Perfect Homemade Popcorn

Popcorn is a popular snack eaten by tons of individuals. It’s readily available in supermarkets, eateries, cinemas, sporting events, and stores. It is gotten from a corn kernel that’s expanded and puffed when heated.

Popcorn has a strangely attractive smell and it’s super delicious. Do you know you can make these delicious snacks at home without a popcorn machine? In this post, I will be teaching you how to make popcorn on the stovetop.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Total Time: 15 minutes

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Pot with Lid
  • Cooker or stove

Ingredients

  • 1 cup corn kernel
  • 8 tablespoon of coconut oil or olive oil
  • 4 tablespoon of sugar
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ cup powdered milk
  • 2 tablespoon of butter (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Procedure

  1. Set a clean pot with a lid on heat. Add the oil and drop the butter and leave to melt on medium heat.
  2. Drop two to three seeds of corn kernel in the melted butter & oil and cover the pot to confirm hotness. When it pops, it hot enough and it helps you to set the right temperature needed.
  3. Remove the popped corn kernel from the heat, Pour the remaining corn kernel into the pot, and stir.
  4. Close the lid tightly. Once it starts popping, shake the pot every 15 seconds( to heat up evenly).
  5. As the corn is popping, place the sugar, vanilla extract, and salt in another saucepan and melt, stir well, and do not allow it to burn.
  6. When the popping sound has reduced or stopped, take the pot off the heat, pour in the melted sugar, salt, and vanilla extract and mix well. 
  7. Cover and place on a countertop for 30 seconds. Take the lid off and sprinkle the popped corn with powdered milk.
  8. Serve and enjoy
